The catalyst for launching The Cara Santana Collection independently was fueled by my desire to take the reins from a major retailer, recognizing that at any moment, a shift can occur in the ever-changing fabric of our society. I wanted to own my power and speak directly to women. Being our own caretaker, our own creator, and our own leader is the most loving thing we can do for ourselves.

To me, this collection signifies the versatility and the duality of being female. Strong, yet feminine; daring, yet classic, and undeniably transformative- just like the women I know and admire. This collection is elevated, yet affordable, an homage to the belief that everyone deserves to look and feel their best.We decided to donate 10% of the profits of this collection to Step Up, an organization that focuses on empowering women to take control of their own lives.

This collection is about celebrating each woman’s life through work and play, from comfort to elegance, and throughout our entire life’s journey. We are living in an era where women are becoming increasingly empowered. Women are multifaceted- we play diverse roles that come with expectations and now is the time to live our lives to the fullest and move forward with confidence and style. The quality, aesthetic and textures were all conceived through the lens of transition with the hopes of creating a cohesive collection. Simply put, I want every woman to be able to make each piece her own so that it can truly compliment her personality and style.

I can continue to embrace the idea of inclusion and that is why this collection is for EVERYBODY and every body. Despite the things that optically separate us, we are in this together - now more than ever. When we focus on the similarities, it reminds us that we are a collective group and when we stand up for ourselves, we are also standing up for each other.

One of the things I’m most excited about is our call to action of #PayItFashionForward. I wanted to inspire us to think about sustainability in fashion, and repurposing clothes we no longer wear for someone who can benefit from that. So each purchase comes with a reusable package, which I am asking to be filled with clothes from their closet, and to be donated to their local community.

The pieces of this collection are named after commonly heard female micro aggressions. You’ve heard them! “You’re so much prettier when you smile,” or “Toughen Up,” or “You Need to Lighten Up," “Keep it Classy,” and “Just Relax." We are taking back our power and empowering women to do the same!
